Which drone is worth hiring?
- A lightweight drone for travelling and easy filming: DJI Mini 5 Pro or Mini 4 Pro. These lightweight Mini drones fit into a small bag, are easy to fly and offer image quality that’s more than adequate for social media and travel videos. The Mini 5 Pro’s 1-inch sensor delivers better image quality in low light.
- For professional aerial photography and video production: DJI Mavic 4 Pro or Mavic 3 Pro Cine. Multiple cameras, a large sensor and, on the Mavic 3 Pro Cine, Apple ProRes recording for cinema-grade post-production.
- For FPV filming and dynamic shots: DJI Avata 2 or FPV Combo. You fly it using the goggles, and they let you capture fast-paced shots from close to the subject.
- For 360° aerial photography: The DJI Avata 360 or Antigravity A1, which capture the entire surroundings in one go and allow you to choose the angle of view afterwards.
- For thermal imaging and inspections: DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, which you use to inspect roofs, façades, solar panels and power lines.
What does it take to fly a drone?
Drone pilots must be registered as drone operators with Traficom, and the operator ID must be affixed to the drone. Flying heavier drones also requires passing an online test and obtaining a certificate of competence. The pilot must also have third-party liability insurance, and there are flight restrictions in urban areas and near airports. The rules are explained in plain language in an article by our partner, Foto Monza Finnish drone legislation in plain language.
If you’re unsure which drone is suitable for your project or what permits you need, please ask us before you hire one.
Rent before you buy
Renting is a great way to try out a drone before deciding to buy: you can see what sort of flying suits you and whether the lightweight Mini is enough or if you need a larger model. Once you’ve found one you like, you can buy the drone for yourself Photo from Monza.
